Our Ministry

HIS BridgeBuilders-San Antonio is a movement of God uniting Christians across cities to transform urban communities through education, health, employment, and spiritual development for the glory of God. The organization is a 501 (c) (3). The ministry was established in 2006. The work is centered on the near east side in the East Meadows (formerly Wheatley Courts) area of the city.  The community in which we serve is economically challenged with a per capita income of only $7500 as compared to $21,500 for the remainder of San Antonio.  74.7% of the children in our neighborhood are living below the federal poverty level.  53% of the adults living in the neighborhood have not graduated from High School.

The ministry has been blessed with two beautiful ministry buildings on the east side.  Our main location at 710 Arthur houses many weekly activities such as Calvary Chapel East Church services, Life Choices services and adult training and educational services. We host all the monthly block parties at this location. At our location at 339 Gabriel, we provide after school mentoring and homework support and computer access for the children of the neighborhood. During the summer, we offer a reading program to encourage the children to improve their reading, writing, and comprehension skills.

Our monthly block parties bring together a variety of free services to the community as we engage in relationship building while taking the opportunity to share the Good News of The Gospel.  These neighborhood-wide events offer vision testing, free clothing, free food, live music, door prizes and activities for the children.  Seasonally, we add to these events with free back packs, school supplies, Thanksgiving food baskets, Christmas gifts, and other special items as needed by the neighborhood.
